Spider with red face on back end

Image

A red smile,

two red eyes,

the very scary spider

was on a playground toy.

“Happy Halloween,” from my

little friend, wearing his own

special Halloween costume!

**********

I will be up at my Mom’s,

having had successful

eye cataract surgery,

enjoying overnight

stay with my

youngest

daughter.

Soon, my dear

Mom will turn 88,

a nice double digit year,

twin eights on November 1st.

  1. Could that be a black widow spider? They have a poisonous bite, so they an be scary. I am happy to hear your surgery went well. And Happy Birthday to your dear mother! – Mike

    • I thought so but my friend I sent told me, “No!”
Mike, I was afraid it would jump on the grandkids so I got a flat wallet out of my purse and took it away from the playground equipment (after photographing it, of course!) πŸ™‚

  2. Oh, my Robin…glad cataract ‘surgery went well – I’ve had both eyes done and think it must be one of the rites we do now for the passage of time!
Happy Birthday to your mom!! Enjoy each other…:)

    • Well, to be honest, it was rather scary surgery for me, Sheila. My BP took a nose dive to 72/35 and they tipped the table head down so blood pooled up in my eye and is still bright red. My doctor reassured me that it is normal on my next day “follow up.” I have been hearing that it is “too red” from my Mom’s senior friends. But I am sure will eventually clear up and stop freaking myself and others out. Perfect Halloween face, though. πŸ™‚
Hope you had fun on Halloween! Did Red come and haunt you!

      • Oh, goodness, Robin…that is scary surgery goings-on…I don’t want to freak you out further, but I don’t like the sound of the “red” eye, either. Be sure to go back to your doctor if it doesn’t get better in a couple of days!
Halloween was interesting at Casa de Canterbury, but Red haunts us every day through our dog Charly that is a female version of our Red Man. It’s surreal – but we like it!
Take care of yourself, my friend.

    • Thank you, Jill for the sweet wishes for Mom’s birthday yesterday, as well as my eye, which seems to be taking more time than others have told me. Trying to stay busy with Mom,laundry, shopping and downtime also. xo

  3. Happy birthday to the young lady of 88. I’m glad to hear that your surgery was successful. I have to say, when I first looked at the spider photo, I thought it was on someone’s arm. That would be a brave photographer πŸ™‚

  4. Wow, that’s sure a scary looking spider. I would think it was poisonous because a black widow is supposed to have red on it but I guess those are it’s eyes?? Anyway, glad your eye surgery went well and happy birthday to your mother!

    • Anneli, I sure enjoyed my scones and coffee or tea visit with you yesterday. ❀
Sorry, spider was just so amusing with the red markings looking like it was smiling! πŸ™‚
My Mom had black cherry chocolate cake with a delicious stew my brother baked in a pumpkin. We watched Cleveland Indians which she does love sports (as well as murder mysteries!) Thank you!
It was a wonderful day and she seems to be mostly enjoying my visit. She's kind of independent and doesn't like my trying to schedule her, getting her to breakfast is almost a battle but usually win by me, no matter how gently I try to persuade her. This means thinking of various other things to do while waiting. . .

    • Thanks, Merril. No spiders brought to Mom’s! I agree! πŸ™‚
She had a lovely birthday with black forest chocolate cake and my brother baked a delicious, savory stew which we all enjoyed. We watched two nights of Cleveland Indians losing. A little extra beer for brothers, while Mom and I sipped on a hard apple cider. πŸ™‚

My eye is taking its time, still bright red, so visually upsetting. I have a weak stomach with blood. . . I hope it clears by time to report back to work on Monday.

  5. i think he has his spiderman costume on, judging by his colors. so glad to hear that your surgery went well and take it easy while you recover. happy birthday to your mom tomorrow, it’s one of my grandson’s birthdays tomorrow as well. )

    • Thanks, Tonya! ❀ I passed on all the sweet and kind birthday wishes to Mom. She liked reading them but I took my time writing responses back. . .
Thank you also for your caring about my eye surgery. Still redder than I would like but I am sure each person has their own way of healing.

    • Diana, thanks for your nice comment about Mom! We are having quite a lot of fun. 88 is a fine age indeed. πŸ™‚
I know, not too many people like spiders! I hope it catches a few of the pesty gnats which are circlung around here in Ohio, north where Mom lives and in central area where I live. They look like fleas but fly. . .

  6. Spiders with red markings are definitely something to avoid, we have one here called The Red Back, it can kill very quickly, especially children.
I must have missed something somewhere Robin regarding your cataracts, great all went well, mine were done about five years ago, something we tend to get as we get older.
Congratulations on your Mother reaching a great milestone in life.
    Cheers.

  7. Well, here I am catching up! I am so glad your surgery went well! I’m finally into Octobers emails!

What a hairy little spider you found! The red face…wonder if that means it’s poisonous? Am glad you gave it a wide berth. πŸ™‚
