Awards that I May Not Deserve!

Standard

While living as I do, ‘flying by the seat of my pants,’

going to the library and pretending to be a ‘good’ fellow

blogger, I miss things. Details. Lots of times I miss some

of your great posts, wonderful adventures and really need…

More Time in the Day!

I actually write my posts at home, run to the library after

work, post a story or article, then read my comments, and

once in a great while, check out my emails.

Last weekend, I had 500 blogs to read and over 1000 emails.

Yikes!!

This is how my past weekend went…

I managed to go to my oldest daughter’s home, with a trio

of star glazed donuts with sprinkles, a special card and

an enclosure of cash for her 34th birthday. The donuts

were eaten by the ‘birthday girl,’ her 5 year old son,

Micah and her partner, Michael. I felt like that was a great,

but too short visit. I headed to the library where I was

able to post a story, read about 25-30 posts, checking on my

comments on my posts, responded and no emails checked.

Then, on last Sunday, I had that ‘epic’ and exciting trip

to the Palace Theater to see “Sesame Street Live!” show.

I managed to write about that for April Fool’s Day…

You can see me, in any situation, trying to ‘talk myself

out of the ticket, Mr. Policeman, sir!’

In amongst the posts you are writing, the comments you are

saying, I really care and try to stay connected!

If only you lived in walking distance, had time to share a

cup of coffee, and be part of my neighborhood landscape.

We do the best that we can, in our busy lives we lead!

I missed on March 26, 2014, this very fine award nomination

from Anne T. Bell. It was for “Being a Light of the World”

Award! Thank you very much, Anne!

You may find her at:

http://talesalongtheway.com

I am so sorry about missing this award and really would like

you to encourage you to read this retired teacher’s stories

about her travels, experiences and she truly does shine a

bright and friendly Light into the World!!

Another special friend, Jane, who sometimes I call Janey,

is one I have passed on an award to, once along her blogging

career. You may be checking her out since I recommended her!

Jane nominated my for a “Quintet of Radiance” Award! Wow!

I loved the fact that she really followed the rules to a “T!”

She made me very proud to know her and I feel you will be

smiling, chuckling and learning some really ‘quirky’ things

about Jane when you check out:

http://cupidorcats.wordpress.com

The awards in her Quintet were for the Most Influential Blogger

Award, The ABC (Awesome Blog Content) Award, The Inner Peace

Award, The Sunshine Award and The Versatile Blogger Award!

I hope it is okay to tell you that it was passed to me,

without the fifth award (The Versatile Blogger Award) but I am

sure that it was not meant to be a Quartet!

“Sh-h-h!!” this was how it was given to me, missing the fifth.

I received two awards on an old friend of mine’s blog. We have

been connected for longer than most of my regular commenters,

here is a great fellow blogger who writes short but very deep,

interesting posts! He gave me the One Lovely Blog Award and

the Beautiful Blogger Award.

http://belsbro.wordpress.com

I would like to offer these suggestions for people to read

and enjoy their stories, poems, art and photographs. I am

nominating this list of fellow bloggers any or all of the

above Awards! I was very honored by these and hope you will

also, feel honored. As I feel that my true and faithful

friends will understand, these are relatively new followers

and readers of my blog. I like to encourage new gifts to

these, in the form of choosing to nominate them for the

multiple (Eight!) awards!

I hope you receive some visits from my readers and friends

here in my neighborhood.

Please check out the three people’s posts where they nominated

me, for the rules. I hope that you will accept these honors and

will be happy to read your suggested nominees, as you pass the

awards around!

A “High Five” to You All!

Standard

I am amazed and struck silent with awe! I was within a short

period of time, given five award nominations! Wow! I will call

this my “Lucky Five” and wish to pass a Big “High Five” to all

of you readers of my lengthy essays on life and relationships,

in the areas of work and play.

I was given Four Nominations by a special, new “best friend,”

named Julie! She has a wonderful blog which is full of varied

stories and fun looks at life. Her outlook matches mine, with

humor and positive insights given.

http://musingsfromaworkaholic.com

Julie has nominated me to four special awards!

I may take them all and run with them! The Inner Peace Award,

The ABC (Awesome Blog Content) Award, the Most Influential

Blogger Award and the Sunshine Award were all nominated to me.

In addition to the above named four nominations, I received

a nomination for another award. That makes a total of Five!

Mark, you tricky man, you are getting me to post about your

blog again! I appreciated the nomination for the Dragon’s

Loyalty Award. In accepting this, you know, I may be a

lawless individual. Out here in the “real world,” I am

a true, trustworthy and law-abiding individual.

I hope you will check out Mark’s blog about sports,

entertainment, walks with Ellie B. and more at:

http://markbialczak.wordpress.com

I would like to announce some worthy bloggers who have,

as far as my memory serves, not received nominations here

before. I know you will enjoy checking out these “new”

blogs!

I apologize for not wishing to give you any more sordid

details of my life. The others who receive awards, do

such respectable posts accepting their nominations!

You really should read my early posts, where I divulged

and ‘bared all’~ if you want to know more about me! I

hope you will check out Mark’s and Jules’ posts for their

fine examples of how to follow Award Nomination Rules!

our memories are overlapping! She belongs in my

‘sisterhood club’ but have not been recently

“Wilderness Gardens” is a place of renewal and beauty.

8. Heartafire is an honest and outgoing writer

who will get you thinking or smiling! Awhile

back, she wrote about her father’s mother,

it was a true portrait of a spunky woman with

good cooking skills!

9. More lovely photos, from a newcomer to my blog,

Prasun Dutta at:

much to think about, too.

us along our walk in life.

http://alexraphael.wordpress.com

I have a few others who are great and new friends who I

could ‘throw into the mix,’ but what if another award

nomination comes up? Who will I have to put into that

post? Everyone who is following and faithfully reading

my posts, again…

I salute you,

I give you a “High Five!”

I wave my five fingers to you

and say,

“Farewell for now!”

Let’s Go on a Picnic! Sunshine Award Nominations

Standard

In the midst of many feet of snow, while growing up in

Cleveland, Ohio, my mother and we, three kids, would

have fun, snow days! The best things came out of those

special moments. It was a time of childhood wonder, warm

cookies being baked, sometimes a tent in the dining room,

(sheet draped over the cherry wood table) or sometimes we

would have a ‘summer’ picnic!

Here is the Menu for my desired picnic on this wintry,

breezy day! Come on! Go into your pantries, you may

surprise yourself with what you may come up with! There

may be cans of baked beans, there may be a can of German

potato salad or those vinegary but sweet, three beans

concoction. If you are a ‘health nut’ be aware, this

writer got up and made 100% whole wheat pancakes, took

some confectioner’s sugar, cinnamon and a dab of real

butter, then “pretended” by closing my eyes, that I

was at the Delaware County Fair, eating a huge elephant

ear!

PICNIC MENU: COME ONE, COME ALL!

Barbecued Chicken

Cole Slaw

(I will make a purple cabbage slaw, with crumbled

blue cheese, pecans, cranberries and a sweet and

tangy dressing.)

Potato Salad

(I love red skinned potatoes and a little bacon thrown

into this creamy mayonnaise based dressing on it.)

Cold, tart Lemonade

(Okay, you may bring a margarita mix, that is also

‘sunshine-y!’)

Spinach Salad with red or purple onions, with a

lot of healthy vegetables, like radishes included

Brownies

(Caramel or Peanut butter with a good vanilla ice

cream)

Cookies

(My favorites are butter frosted ones. They could be

decorated with bright yellow frosting and have a happy

face of M and M’s on it!)

And Muscle Headed will bring lemon sorbet or gelato!

This is also a wonderful post about unique, quirky and

talented fellow bloggers! I am honored to be nominated

for The Sunshine Award by the blog, “Be Good!” Her Second

Award Nomination of 2014 post is on January 22, 2014.

“Be Good” can be found at:

http://reservedlove.wordpress.com

She has been around my blog for awhile, pressing the ‘like’

button and generally, a great friend! This Sunshine Award

gave me several directions to write about and you may wish

to just skip my morning’s coffee and sugar content-driven

spellbinding list of Sunshine subjects!

Hope these “qualify” for my ten things you wished you knew

about me:

1. “Sunshine on my Shoulder” (Makes Me Happy!) by John

Denver.

2. I love ‘The Sunshine State,’ Florida and their ocean

views!

3. Have a sunny outlook on life!

4. I have a sunny disposition, it really helps when times

are hard. But, you know, my WORST days are probably better

than some people’s BEST days!

5. I don’t like my eggs Sunny Side Up! I like them cooked

on both sides.

6. Bright, brilliant, shining, hot SUNSHINE is so lovely!

7. Welcoming people with a sunny greeting, goes a long way.

8. Lasting friendships bring sunshine on gloomy, cloudy days.

9. “The Sun Will Come Up Tomorrow” or the next day…

(“Annie” musical number may be corny but it makes me smile!)

10. “Sunny Skies…” my oldest daughter called me last Spring

after I had just sung on my cell phone voicemail this song

from “Sesame Street.” I have her hysterical laughter caught

forever on my voicemail, when it asks me to delete it I just

push the #9 and save it. She says a message back, “Mamacita,

you are a silly, silly woman and I love your silly self! Call

me back, when you get a chance!” If you ever come visit,

I will share some of my own Silly Mom messages! She has one

where she says, “Sorry I missed your call, honey, but I was

heading towards the bathroom and dared not turn around to

search for my phone!!”

My girlfriend, Jenny, who lost her mother when she was in

her twenties, says, “Save that forever. Sometimes, I forget

how my Mom’s voice sounded like.”

Here are the Sunshine Award, 2014 nominations!

There are rules about posting the logo/clip art for the

Sunshine Award, listing (at least) ten fellow bloggers to

nominate for their own Sunshine Awards. Add ten things that

are about yourself, sharing with us.

I hope that sometime during this picnic, we have someone

with a stereo to play,

The Beatle’s song, “Here Comes the Sun.”

Check out “Be Good’s” post from 1/22/14 for official rules.

Bouquets

Standard

My first wedding to the man I fell in love with on the first day of

college was held on 7/8/78. This was a wonderful, spiritual and

mystical day for me. I was ever so happy to be marrying someone

that I believed would be forever.

Being creative and partly a “hippie” I came up with a theme of

rainbows. I would carry a bouquet of flowers “reflecting the many

colors and beauty of my friendships.” I held a bouquet with all the

colors that my five bridesmaids chose to wear. They all had the

same pattern of dress, in a spring green, lilac, peach, pastel blue,

and pink. They held bouquets that had white roses, daisies and

baby carnations.

It was a lovely day, filled with many guests who have since passed

on. The wedding napkins were spread with care, along the edge

of the white, circular linen tablecloth. Again, each napkin with those

five colors became part of the pattern woven and continued the

theme. Atop the wedding cake, the bride and groom were the set

that had been on my parents’ own cake, only a short 23 years’

earlier. The wedding cake was decorated with little varying flowers,

violets reflecting the lilac color, roses in the pink and peach colors,

columbine and bluebells with light blue and the color that wove its

icing vine was light spring green.

My friends are still in my heart but a long time since being taken off

my Christmas list and I, off theirs.  Except my best college friend,

Patrice. She attended BGSU, had lived in my dorm both freshman

and sophomore year, and became my maid of honor. Patrice had

witnessed first hand how our love blossomed and grew. I will be

seeing her in about a month up in Cleveland. It has been only

three years since Bill and I  went to Charlevoix, Michigan. We

stayed close by the Castle Farms, Pat’s sister and brother in law

own. Patrice’s home address is in the state of Mississippi.

Someday,  I hope to travel there to see her “transplanted” home.

We were divorced in 1984,

I gave the wedding album to my oldest daughter, she is the holder

of the memories and the “archives” of our family now. The divorce

was when she was only 3 and a half years’ old, her brother one year

old. Not the time to talk about this aspect! I was excited about the

bouquets…

I was so happy to receive my recent bouquet of awards from Ajaytao.

He has posts that show poetry, photography and interesting “artsy”

type materia, including musical choices, too. I have been following

him and he is a good responder to my posts, for quite awhile.

Here’s where in the world to find Ajaytao~

days.

“What A Wonderful World,” by Louis Armstrong.

Thank you so much for being part of my large “bouquet” of friends!

My Spirits Rise with Receiving Awards!

Standard

I am always remiss in addressing and procrastinating my receiving

multiple awards. I am overwhelmed with the love, inspiration and

daily “pats on the back” I receive by blogging. I have such lovely

and warm human beings stretching their hands across continents

and oceans, giving me much more than I give. I would be grateful

for these gifts, alone.

I have received several sets of awards and this will annoy, possibly,

the nominators and the posts that deserve to see the logos and

their “rules” followed closely. But, being the best I can be, means

that you may see the names who nominated me, along with my

latest suggestions of newer and more recent posts I follow.

Hopefully, this will make you smile and enjoy the lists and my post

today.

First, a wonderful post called “Thankfulness” by glorialana, sent me a

Trio of Award nominations:

Inner Peace Award

Sunshine Award

and Loyal Reader awards. All such precious gifts. I am glad to be

passing some peacefulness, sunshine and have the best, most loyal

readers ever!

Here is glorialana’s (Stephanie from Australia) blog information,

please check her blog out very soon!

http://glorialana.wordpress.com/2013/07/30/thankfulness/

The woman, otherwise known as the “Hot Rod Cowgirl” gave me

a special 2nd nomination for the Wonderful Team Member

Readership Award.  I feel this award means a lot to me, because

we are all members of a community of writers. We spend time on

each other’s posts, reading and conversing. We support each other,

make each other laugh, bring tears to our eyes and inspire others

to keep on going. This award means a lot to me!

Thanks to:

Another nomination was given by belsbror, a huge Quintet of

Radiance:

Five Enobling Awards!

Wow, this was even better than a gift of a dozen roses! Thank you so

much.

The following award nominations were for:

The Versatile Blogger Award, The Sunshine Award, The Inner Peace

Award, The Most Influential Blogger Award and the ABC Award, also

known as the Awesome Blogger Content Award.

He states, “The idea behind the award nominations is to serve as a

reminder for our thoughts to remain VERSATILE, to brighten up dark

pathways of the mind with SUNSHINE, respect our INNER PEACE,

bring about changes by being positively INFLUENTIAL, and make this

pale blue planet an AWESOME place to abide in.”

Please check out this unique blog which has international flair from a

resident in Mimaropa, of the Philippines. He writes many unusual

posts including about dowries and unusual animals such as parrots.

“follow the rules” to each award!
